NO ROOM THERE FOR A QUISLING
Smallest of the 26 countries allied ngainst Nazism, the Grand Duchy o .f Luxeraberg is stubbornly fighting Hitler. After this tiny territory was overrun in the spring of 1940 the Grand Duchess Charlotte left Avith her Ministers in protest and Luxemburg was incorporated in the Reich as part of the Coblenz Gau. Umlor the savage direction of Gauleiter Simon, Luxembergers, who speak both; French and German, were taught that they were biologically part of the Germanic race. Then a census was taken. Asked to state their nationality and mother tongue, : )7 per cent of urban and 99 per cent if real Luxemburgers said that their nationality was Luxemburgish and :iieir mother tongue' Avas Luxemburgsh. Since there is no such language :hat Mas not helpful. Gauleiter "Jimon called off the census and anion need that Reich experts would •all on individual Luxemburgers to k'termine what their nationality and angungu really are.
