FAREWELL TO STAFF MiR AND MRS A. HAYTER A happy note of "Let's get together" marked the occasion of a successful social evening last week, given by Mr anil Mrs A. Hayiter when th(;y farewelled members and ex-members of their stalf. Quite a large gathering attended to do justice to this popular host and hostess and an enjoyable programme of vocal and instrumental items, rendered, by the staff was generally appreciated. During the evening a presentation of a leather bound travelling clock and suitcase was made to Miss MjTtle Webber from Mr and Mrs Hayter with whom she lias 1 been associated for the past ten years. This popular young lady was also the recipient of many useful and beautiful gifts from all members of the staff. A dainty supper was served and numerous toasts bore witness to the popularity of both Mr and Mrs A. Hayter. The singing of Auld: Lang Syne brought a happy evening to a close and a fitting climax was the presentation to Mir and Mrs Hayter of a handsome inlaid monogramed tray of native woods. Residents of Whakatane spontaneously unite in their regret at the departure of Mr and Mrs Hayter after a residence of 14 years in the toAvn.
