WEDDING BELLS

WANNOP—WOODBERRY, A quiet but very pretty wedding of local interest was solemnised at the Edgecum.be Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. H. Stames on April 2, the contracting parties being Mavis Violet, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Woodberry, "Homefiekl" Otakiri, andJ Gccii Augustus, only son of Mrs and the late Mr W. J. A. (Gus) Wannop, Thornton. The church.•daintily decorated by the Misses Murray and Mrs J. Russell, included beautiful wedding bell. Mrs W. Cowie presided at the organ. The bride, given away by her father made a charming figure in an Empire gown of ivory clipper satin with long tight fitting sleeves pointed over the hands, and finished with tiny covered buttons. Shirring was repeated on either side of the heart-shaped neckline and the flowing train fell gracefully from the waist, whilst her long veil of embroidered tulle fell from a halo coronet of orange blossom. Her bouquet was of roses, carnations, cactus dahlias and maiden hair fern.

A soft shade: of tulip pink taffeta, with full skirt, bodice and sleeves of which were trimmed with rucked painels, was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss AiJsa Woodberry (youngest sister of the bride). She wore a halo of roses and silver leaves to tone, and carried a bouquet of pink charm, dahlias and maidenhair l'crn. The bridegroom was attended by Mr T. Dockray, of Tauranga. The reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, forty guests being present. A beautiful two-tiered wedding cake formed the centre of the bridal table. Mr and Mrs Woodberry assisted by Mrs Wannop, received the guests Mrs Woodberry wearing a saxe blue hat and coat with matching frock and carried a posy of autumn shaded pom-pom dahlias and maidenhair fern. Mrs Wannop, wearing a silver grey hat and coat, with frock to tone also carried a posy of autumn shaded chrysanthemums. The happy couple left later by car, the bride travelling in a prunella ensemble with matching 'acces« sories.
