Campbell 100—18—82- j W. Syme Mas the winner of the l Medal Handicap No. 2 with nett 72. This plaj-er will be on a lower handicap before the season ends. Eclectic Handicap As stated last week after the first round of the course had been run i the position of the field was a very interesting one. Littlejolin with a 71 nett leading from the old stagers, Powdrell, Anderson and Campbell with nett 73 each. It was a question of whether youth would triumph over age and experience and also whether some other dark horse in the strong field would make a bid at the finish, and oust the leaders. The unexpected did happen, and a dark horse, bred and trained amongst the "Big Timber" W. Syme romped in the winner both of the Medal Handicap and the 36 Eclectic Handicap. From ninth position in a field of twelve, he played well 1 to his handicap of 19—passing the winning post in the Medal Handicap 91—19—72 well ahead of Henderson —another good stayer, 87—-13 —74. He had a runaway victory in the Eclectic with S3 —19 —64. Littlejolin being a good second with 84 —18—66. Littlejolin with his good start found it heavy going in the second round and the dark horse from the Plains, playing 5 strokes better than the week before, romped home with the : honours. So ended a good race with all the participants bunched to- i gcther. : Here arc the results of the Eclectic:— Syme 83—19— 64. Littlcjchn 84—18—66. Powdrell 73—6—67, Henderson 80 —13—67. Dr Dawson 84—16—68. Rangi 76—7—69. Luxton 78 —9—69. Suckling SO—ll—69. Campbell 89—18—71.
