WHAKATANE BOROUGH COUNCIL Notice is hereby giA T en that the Whakatane Borough Council pursuant to its poAvers under the provisions of Sections 77, 79, 80 to 90, 96, 99 a\nd 100 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1933, the Rating Act 1925, Section 52 of the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act 1926, the Local Bodies Loan-5 Act 1926 and all other powers: enabling it in that behalff, intends at a meeting of the Council to> be held c\n Monday May 25, 1942, at the Council Chambers, Commerce Street Whakatane to make and levy the following rates nnd fees Adz: —A consolidated rate of l/6d in the £ in lieu of the folloAVing—General rate of in the £, Hospital and Charitable Aid rate of id in the £, Street Lighting rate of .5d in the £, special rates to provide' interest and sinking fund etc. on loans raised only on land Avithin the Borough pledged as security for the same (a) Loan of £72,970, 4cl in £, (b) Conversion Loan of £25,520, 3d in£. Each cif thei foregoing rates to be for the period from April 1, 1942 to March 31, 1943 and to be levied on all the rateable property in the Borough of Whakatane as appearing in the Valuation RoVi at present in force, upon the basis ef the unimproved value. Also, for the same period to collect on behalf of the Whakatane County Council a special' rate of 1.125 d in the £ to provide interest and sinking fund on the Whakatane County Conversion No. 2 £76,295 Loan, en land within the Borough pledged as security for the same". Also for the same period to levy a uniform sanitation fee of £1 19s per pan in respect of the removal of nughtsoil. Also the Council intends at the meeting above-mentioned, pursuant to the provisions of Sections 84 and 85 of the Harbour's Act 1923, to make and levy for and on behalf of the Whakatane Harbour Board a special rate of %d in the £ to provide interest and sinking fund, on the Whakatanc Harobur Board Conversion Loan of £65,300; such rate to be for the period from October 1. 1941 to September 30, 1942, and to be levied on all the rateable property in the Borough of Whakatane, Avhich area forms a part of the Whakatanc Harbour Board's district, as appearing in the Valuation Roll of the Borough of Whakatanc, at present in force, on the basis of the unimproved value. Further, pursuant to the provisions of Section 76 of the Rating Act 1925, that a penalty of 10 per cent be added to all rates remaining unpaid after six months and fourteen days from the date of demand. Each and every of the above rates and fees to be payable in one instalment on May 28, 1942, to the Borough Rati; Collector at the Council's Office, Commerce Street, Whakatane. The Valuation Roll and estimates of Receipts and Payments for the current Financial year are deposited at the office of the Council and may be inspected during ofTice* J hours and Avithout fee until May 28. 1942.
