Scout Commissioner's Visit The Dominion Scout Coiiimmissioner. Mr 11. Cooksey, visits V, hakatane tills afternoon and will be the guest of the local committee. The above is the title o! . a small octavo newspaper the first of its kind, which has just been published by the Whakatante Paper Mills Workers' Union. The paper which covers in a small way the activities of the Union and news of its members will be welcomed by the organisation as yet a further step towards unity ami social progress.
Rainfall Mr H. Musmtt reports that the rain registered on Friday was .43 inches and this morning .42 inches making the total for the month to date .88 inch. The total for the year is now 5.72 inches against 17.78 inches for the same period last year. Extensive Scalds Miss Dorothy Beebe of Awakeri was admitted to the Whakatane hospital yesterday suifering from extensive scalds to the arms and legs. The accident occurred in a milking shed when Miss Beebe who was carrying a bucket of boiling water slipped and fell. Her condition this morning is veportcd as satisfactory though she was still in extreme pain.
