ON THE LOCAL GREENS WHAKATANE BOWLING CLUB The final games for the Percentaye Fours Avere played under ideal conditions last Saturday the results being as folloAvs:—■ The Avinners, of this competition were: Skips, G. Loane and W. Hoavat tied AA r ith 4 each, Loane Avinning on the percentage scores 22 to 21—G - Thirds, J. Francis, 5 wins. Seconds, A. White, 6 wins. Leads, G. Otley, D. McMillan and B. Grace tied with 4 wins each, Otley Avinning on the 1 percentage scores with 28, McMillan 24, Grace 22. Saturday's Games In the percentage fours the folloAAring results Avere carded: Otley, Bell, Drube and Tippett 29 beat Grace, Salmon, Healy and ShaAV 19; M;urphy, Creeke, Francis and HoAvat 20 beat Smith, HeAA 7 itson, Marsh and Currah 15; Wilson, Bullard, White and Hollis 26 beat Jacksion, O'Rourke Bigelow and Chambers 16; Jenkins, McLeod, Pearson and Loiane 36 beat Boon, Boon, Hellyar and Baxter 29. An end-of-season tourney will be held on Saturday, May 16, com mcncing at 1.30 p.m. SMITH STARS One of the most exciting finishes of the season took place in the Star match Loane, Currah, Haywarcl and Henderson (holders) 22 v Mclsaac, Grant, White and Salmon 25. At the end of the 19th head the score was 22-13 in favour of the holders avlio then Avent doAvn 5 on the next head. Then a boAvling miiracle occurred in the final head, Avith another 5 needed for a Avin the challengers rattled on a 7 to show there was no ill feeling. In this game Salmon found easy "meat" in his opponent Henderson and "minced" him up. White, although slightly out of practice from a prolonged rest "hammered" his Avaj'' through. Grant's battleship bowls "plumbed" the 'leaks' left byi the opjiosition. Churchill had nothing, on Mclsaac in the lastffeA r heads. HayAvard played "in-off" shots and persisted, instead of drawing, to roll hard enough for 3 eush shots. Currah, although "carrying" is his long suit, found the team too lieaA-y for him on this occasion. Loane Avas unsuccessful in the Stars but had the consolation of collecting his 27th. prize from Avrongbias Johnny.
