TANEATUA GATHERING The annual meeting of the Taneatua Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held on Tuesday, April 21, Mrs Hill presiding over a good attendance of members. The president in presenting her report for the year remarked on the very satisfactory fmacial position of the Division, considering how many calls has been made on members for patriotic purposes. During the year a garden party had been held at Mrs Peebles home and had been well supported. Division housekeepers had been supplied to a few homes during the year. Calls for Division housekeepers were found hard to fill, but those fortunate enough to procure one were always more than satisfied. Mrs Hill, president, and Mrs Grace, secretary, were re-elected. Vicc-prc-sidents, Mrs Anderson and Mrs Prince. Competition officer, Mrs Prince and a committee of eight members. It was decided to continue having the Division meeting commence at 1t a.m. to enable members from Opouriao to avail themselves of the bus service until the benzine position was more stable. Competitions for the year were won as follows: Points prize, Mrs Bennett 1: Mrs Anderson 2; Mrs Hill 3. Entries prize, Mrs Bennett. Double flower, Mrs Hayward, Snr. Single flower, Mrs Hayward, Snr. Attendance prize, Mrs Grace, Mrs Storey and Mrs Bennett. The committee served a very enjoyable lunch. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
TE TEKO BRANCH The Te Telco branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union held its annual meeting on April 14, when, a satisfacory report on the year's work was given by the President.. Secretary and the Treasurer. Mrs Eivers was re-elected president and Mrs Goodwin secretary and treasurer, Mrs Goodwin taking over as treasurer from Mrs Symans as it was agreed that a separate treasurer was to no advantage, Mrs Symans was elected press reporter and com petition manager. The president then presented prizes to Mrs Harty, winner of the year's competitions; Mrs Jamieson for best blooms; Mrs Goodwin and Mrs Symans for attendance and a special prize to Mrs Coulter who had not missed a meeting for live years. It was decided that, instead cf sewing for the Lady Galway Guild, this coming year would be spent in making camouflage nets. Mrs Pinker gave a demonstration on how to make the nets, and it was agreed that one daj r a week for three weeks would be held at the mission in teaching all willing workers, and it is hoped that they will have made good progress by the time .the next meeting is due, which in future will be once every two months owing to Avar work and benzine shortage. The best bloom was won by Mrs Cannell. Mrs Goodwin second, the competition for next meeting being best wholemeal cake or biscuit. The afternoon was brought to a close with a welcome cup of tea and biscuits served by Mrs Foote and Mrs Linscll.
