WHERE ARE THE COLLECTORS

WHAKATANE residents who have had to stand the chargrin of seeing the local Patriotic effort surpassed many times over by the energy and enthusiasm of other less populated centres, complain that they have not as yet been given the chance of contributing. A letter appearing in to-day's 'Bea : dan' has led us to comment on the position, which if it is widespread will explain a lot in connection wth the meagre Borough response to date. If our collectors have only half done their job then it is high time that some checking up was done, for obviously if this method is to be fair, it must be applied to all residents, who will be invited to contribute each according to his or her means.
