Ban on Private Flying The ban on private flying which is made by regulation was discussed, by the committee of the New Plymouth Aero Club which unanimously decided to make further representations to the Minister for Defence, to obtain a permit to fly the club's machines. The club did not use aviation petrol it was stated, but ordinary motor spirit, and it asked permission to; fly only the club's machines. Members claimed the club's planes in an emergency ccukl be useful for purposes not directly connected with actual warfare. Private aeroplanes had been used extensively for evacuation purposes.
