SCHOOL SHELTER TRENCHES
WITH the Mayor's rather pointed remarks in mind we feel that we: have substantial backing for reminding residents— particularly parents —of the trenches still to ,be dug next Saturday. The active co-operation of the Borough authorities in this connection reflects the greatest credit upon the local organisers who lost no time in getting to. work. Eighty workers responded last Saturday. It is hoped to double that number next Saturday when new lines will be dug and the whole of the scheme completed once and for all.
Every parent whose child attends either primary or secondary school has a definite duty to perform in the construction of the shelter trenches and should they be found wanting in this respect they have no right to the privilege which they now enjoy.
