Export buyer? have been calling at farms and booking up all cows which will not be worth milking next season. Many hundred head of cull cows will collected and railed to the killing works later in tlie me,nth. Up to £3 I()s nott has been offered to farmers for cows in good condition. Optimistic farmers are hoping that the meat exporting firms have inside information that ;iie collapsc of the Axis is not far off, and are getting ready a supply of cheap meat fo»* starving Europe.
