CATTLE DRIVE The Whakatane Returned Services Association have only one day pel year granted to them cn which they can make a Public Appeal, and that day is Poppy Day, which this year will be held on the 17th April. This branch of the Association feel that now is the time to build up the funds, not for the purpose of assisting so much the Diggers of the last war, but for the purpose of being in a position to assist the New Diggers who will be returning to this district in the near future. The general public must realise that the R.S.A. is an organisation deserving of all the support that it is possible to give, so that in turn it can give the younger Returned Soldiers all the advice and assistance, which from experience, we know that they will require. We now appeal to all farmers in this district for assistance in the way cf donations of Cull Stock of any description which will be auctioned at the local sales for the benefit of this Association's funds, also request the assistance of the Local Businessmen, for donations in cash or kind towards our Poppy Day Appeal.
