EDGECUMBE ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL .MEETING HELD

The annual meeting of the- Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday, March 17. Mrs Learning presided and there was a good at-, tendance. The annual report showed n very successful year's work and that tlie Institute continues to flourish in spite of difficulties due to war conditions. Bouquets -were presented to the Voluntary Organiser. Mrs Learning, retiring president. Mrs Burgess, sectary, and Mrs Hodson, treasurer. Sprays, -were presented to all members Avho had been present at every meeting during the year. A posy and an Institute teaspoon were presented to Mrs Poole who is leaving the district. Competition prizes for the year were awarded as follows: Monthly competitions, Mrs List 1; Miss Pep-

Afternoon tea was served by the committee and the' afternoon concluded Avith the National Anthem.
