PROPHETIC VISION
Many remarkable prophetic expositions have been given in days past by devout students of the Word of God, but few could have forecast with more accuracy than Dr. John Thomas (1805-1871) in his "Exposition of Daniel," concerning the present time. On page' 91, quoting the words of Lord Palmerston that "There is to be no more fighting between France and England as belligerent principals, but their leaders are wrong in supposing that the age of conquest is past for ever: there never has been such an age of conquest as that which will soon come upon the world . . • The war to be initiated is the setting in of an overwhelming inundation that will submerge Europe under one of the most scorching despotisms that ever wrung the heart of nations. England's ally, in whom she now glofies, and by whose aid she proposes to do great things in Europe, will eventually prove but a broken reed. The French Empire must fall . - - unless Britain can form some alliance outside Europe she will have- to fight the battle of freedom and indepeiul-
ence alone." We have witnessed the tragic overthrow of France, and seen the meteoric rise of Hitler and his vile .regime of Nazi depotism-. The final phase of the struggle by Gentile powers for world dominion is developing. We look beyond their sure defeat- to the supremacy of Israel as God's servant-nation, and to the establishing of His Kingdom on earth in peace and righteousness. This is the prophetic vision of the Scrips tu res.
