HAND AMPUTATED
YOUNG MAN'S PAINFUL ORDEAL
FINGERS CAUGHT IN MINCER
Mr Patrick Brady, a young man aged 23 years, whose home is at Edgecumbe, had a very painful accident las't. Thursday, when his right hand ciaught in the thread of an automatic mincing machine on the premises of R. Salmon, butcher, where he was employed. The hand was so badly lacerated that it required amputation at the Whakatane Hospital. It is understood that Mr Brady was passing the machine, which was working, and slipped on the concrete floor. In putting out his hands to save himself, hia right was thrust into the mincing machine, contacting the thread. He was at once removed to the hospital where the operation was performed. His condition apart from shock, is good.
