THE "GOOD ENDEAVOUR" LEAGUE

What lio, what ho, ma hearties. Sometimes I wonder whether all the writing and. the talking I do does me any good. You ses, living quietly over here on Whale Island leaves me lots of time for thought, and as I gaze out tO' sea, or stare ati you all through my telescope, I often get to pondering about it all. Lots of you have been in the 'Good Endeavour League' now for three years. That's quite a time in a young person's life, and often when I see some of you I wonder if its' the same little boy or girl who first sent) i'n their three-pence and asked if they could become members 1 . Well, of course it is, but all the same it's hard to believe sometimes. The next thing I suppose I'll see you dressing like young men and -women, leaving school and taking jobs, then getting married, then having homes of your own, then getting fat and middleaged, and growing whiskers (the boys I mean of course) and then becoming old and gnarled like me. Well, Avell, maybe I get things a little wrong but you can't hold up old Father Time, and the boys and girls of to-day will be the men and women of to-morrow. Its a pity more fathers and mothers didn't realise that and they would be more careful in helping and assisting their children. Anyhow, I 'spcct that's enough of the serious side of things 'for one day so I will get along with the other parts .of the page. Cheerio till next Atcek. - Your old friend Peter the Whaler,
