THE AUCKLAND EASTER The Taranaki owner Surveyor, General is to contest the Auckland Faster Handicap, on April 4. Last year he finished fourth in this event to Kindergarten, Brazen Bold and Monte Cristo. STELLA LUX WELLThe well known Hawke's Bay juniper Stella Lux. is again in work nt Hastings and is reported to be looking especially well. NOW DOWN SOUTH The 1910 Avon-dale Slakes winner, Mass Baffles, is now a member of Arthur EI J is' team in Canterbury. She is to be raced by the Hons. P C. Webb and G. Hunter. When she regains her two year old form these sportsmen Avill have another winner scoring for them. NO COMPLIMENTARIES The Wanganui Jockey Club has decided not to issue complimentary tickets for - its next meeting to be held at Marton, but will reduce the charges of admission to 5/- for men and 2'/6 for ladies. BIG STAKES At the Waikato Racing Club's winter meeting the Te Rapa Steeplechase will be Avorth £750, and the Waikato Steeples (second daj r ) £500. [t is anticipated that the leading southern jumpers will be at the fixture, on their way to the Auckland winter meeting early in June. FOUR DAYS FOR TE RAPA In the merry month of May there will be four days' racing at the Waikato course as folloAvs: May 2, Franklin meeting; May 9, Waikato Trotting Club; May 1G and 23 Auckland Racing Club. RELATED TO GOLD ROD The two year old Aqueduct has been purchased from Mr T. 11. Lowry, of Okawa, Hawke's Bay, by Mr A. Bell, of Wairoa. This colt is h half-brother to Geld Rod, and it is confidently expeeted that he ma3~ make good. A WINTER PROSPECT Looking in first-rate condition as the result of a spell during the last couple of months, Beverley ht\s been recommissioned by Geo Jenkins. This trainer will prepare the Lord Warden gelding for winter racing. When tried over steeplechase fences Beverley Avon a minor event, but i displayed much improAed form later over hurdles. He Avon the Tiri Hurdle race at Ellcrslie in November and annexed a double at the Auckland mid-summer meeting in January, his actual Avinnings being over £800. There Avill be plenty of jumping eA'cnts to suit Beverley during the winter season, and he should extend his record. WILL SOON BE READY Since resuming regular Avork some weeks ago, Night Pilot has not been set any strenuous tasks. Most of his work is being done on the tan track, Avliere he is hitting out in a style that suggests that he Avill soon be ready to sport silk again.
