BULLS STAMPEDE

INCIDENT AT WHAKATANE. WEST

TAKE FRIGHT AT TRAIN

The rural peace of Whakatane West was shattered at about 3 a.m. yesterday morning when a number of bulls, awaiting railage in an adjoining paddock, took fright at the approach of a train and stampeded. Broken gates and fences told' the tale of their flight while the bellowing which accompanied l the scatter could be heard for miles. The task of collecting the herd was an unenviable one Ave understand that 'the position is now well in hand."
