MANAWAHE NOTES
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Members, of the Manawahe Women's Institute met for their monthly meeting, thirteen being present. Two visitors were also present, Mrs Forbes and Mrs H. Wiithy (V.0.) of Matata. General business concluded, the* retiring president, Mrs Logan, in her annual report expressed appreciation of the progress made by the Institute during the past year. Mrs Edge, secretary and treasurer, followed with her report in which she commented on the improved finances of the previous year. The election of officers resulted:—■ President: Mrs Kane. Vice-presidents-: Mrs King, Mrs Logan. Secretary: Mrs Edge. Committee: Mesdames Clancy, Rim<lier r Macpherson, Miss L. RendalL The aspirations were then read, followed by the Roll Call, "Answer your neighbour's question" which caused much laughter. Competitions were: Best collection of vegetables, Mrs Logan. Best collection of sweets, Mrs King. The talent competition for the year realised the sum of £3 ss. Sales and patriotic tables Avere well patronised. A dainty afternoon tea, served by Mrs A. Rendall and M>rs Logan, brought to a close a very pleasant afternoon.
