WOMEN'S LAND ARMY

HELP FOR ENGLISH MARKET GARDENERS According to reports from England, the Women's Land Army is doing a useful job in replacing male market gardeners called up for service. Probably a certain amount of direction and supervision will be necessary (remembering that the volunteers had only a month's training before taking employment). Therefore the Ministry of Agriculture is urging employers to get together on good neighbour lines and to help each other's land girls by providing what advice they can on >uch questions as cropping and manuring. These girls are enthusiastic and very willing, and market gardeners have in them at least a partial solution of their labour problem.
