WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT OTAKIRI

The annual meeting of the Otakiri Women's Institute was held in the Otakiri Hall on Wednesday afternoon with a fair attendance of members. The president, Mrs T'ickner, thanked the members of the retiring committee for their co-opera-tion during the year, and welcomed Mrs Withy to the meeting. The election of the new committee resulted in the following:—President-: Mrs Tickner; Secretary: Mrs W. S. Woods; committee: Mesdames Whiteside, Lord, Rutherford, Dunning, Hancock, Cobden, Miss I. Murray. Before afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Watson and Crista!l. a game competition was won by Mrs Hancock. The results of the competitions for the day were as follows: Plum jam, Mrs Woods 1; Mrs G. J. Murray 2; Mrs Whiteside 3. Best flower, Miss I. Murray 1; Mrs Tickner 2 and 3. For the j-ear, Mrs Tickner won the general monthly competitions, with Mrs Cristall 2, and Mrs Whiteside 3, while the best flower competition was won by Mrs Tickner, with Miss f. Murray 2.
