Opotiki Ergot Picking
Although the results from ergol picking in the Opotiki district cannot be as good as those obtained in the Waikato district, they seem to be decidedly better than in Gisborne where the Girl Guides picked for 72 hours collecting only 4 ounces. Reports of fair success in Opotiki, although rather late in the season, continue to come in. The Waiotalii Women's Institute. Garden Circle recently picked ergot, live ladies, assisted by nine school girls, picking for hours, obtained This has been sent to Wellington and it is understood that amounts collected b3 r other ladies and by the school are still to be forwarded. The heavy winds recently have beaten down the fescue and the results obtained are not as good as they would have been earlier in the season.
