KILLINGS TO MID-FEBRUARY

The official figures of killing's for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till February 14th, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killing's to that date total 6,091,964 carcases, this being an increase of 213,403 carcases over the killings to February 15tli last season. Wether mutton killings are 318,369 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 466,818 carcases, compared with' 187,050 and 570,997 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses are as follows: North Island Lamb 3,760,601 (3,625,218) Wether mutton 300,826 ( 170,190) Ewe mutton 337,228 ( 467,719) South Island' Lamb 2,331,363 (2,253,343) Wether mutton 17,543 ( ,16,860) Ewe mutton 129,590 ( 103,278) Frozen beef production is now 96,309 quarters compared with 147,684 quarters lrfst season. Porker killings total 62,463 carcases, an increase of 36,522 whilst baconers total 162,039 carseses, a decrease of 38,917.
