Need for Builders
Basing his conclusions on the number of men engaged in the various, industries and on the numheis of pupils enrolled in the classes at the Wellington Technical College for those industries, the director of the college, Mr R. G. Rising, in a report dresented to the board cf governors, said that there was a surplus enrolment for the engineering and allied trades, and a very seriousdeficiency in the building and allied trades. "With the housing problem such as it is, and with development work that must take place: after the Avar," said Mr RidUng. "the demand for builders will he very great. Employers' and emp.lovee?' 1 associations should give seriousthought to the present lack of interest and see -whether conditions cannot be modified so that young people may be attracted towards this, necessary national work."*
