WORK IN COUNTY COUNTY ENGINEER'S REPORT Since last report the second cutting of all Whakatane and Te Teko areas has been completed. In mosL cases no appreciable increase in the prevalance of the weed Avas appar-» ent, the dry spell doubtless contributing somewhat. The Waimana area is the most badly infested. This gang is now working along the Waimana River bed towards MatahiCutting at Onepu and Braemar is in hand. An additional area of some 200 acres at Downard's Road has been included this season. Some 35 men are at present engaged. The area covered to date is 7471 acres, and the man hours total J I,62o.—Engineer's report at yesterday's meeting.

The reconstruction of Wane's bridge is completed and the approaches formed and metalled. Approximately 480 cubic yards of spoil went into the filling. The reconstruction of Langenberger's "No. 1 bridge is in hand and shculd be completed in a few days. The piles for Titoki bridge have arrived and the balance of the hardwood timber is expected shortly. • Decking repairs havtf been effected to bridges on McLean's, Railway West, Titoki anil Paul's Access Roads.—Acting County Engineer's report'.
