Expensive Radio Set The owner of a radio set who evidently prefers to pay for his licence fees in the form of a Court fines was prosecuted before Mr E. CLevvey, S.M., in the Christchurch Magistrate's Court. It was stated in evidence that since the defendant obtained his radio set in 1938 he had been prosecuted three times for having no licence, and had not become the holder of one yet. In 1938 he was fined £1; in 1939,, 15s:; and in June, 1941, £3. "Oil, well, we'll try £5 this time," commented the Magistrate, in imposing the fine.
