SERIOUS OFFENCE

YOUNG MEN BEFORE COURT COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE At the local court on Friday? Messrs G. A. Brabant and J. King, J's.P., committed two young men to the Supreme Court, Auckland, for sentence. They were charged with unlawfully carnally knowing n girl over the age of 12 years and under the age of sixteen years. The accused were Moai T'ihi and Henry; Hudson, of Waimana. In evidence the girl's mother stated that she had learned from one of her other children of the offences and had, following investigations, notified the police. The schoolgirl appeared and stated that she had told both men that her age was only 14 years. In statements to the police both accused admitted the facts and entered a plea of guilty.
