Selfish Attitude The varj'ing attitude of people toward the accommodation of evacuees from Auckland in the event of enemy attack were being discussed at the Waikatci County Council meet Ing last week, when it Avas stated that in a certain district a houseowner had declared he would not accommodate any evacuees. Pressed for a valid reason, he pointed to some new furniture, and said he was not going to take the chance of that furnitude being scratched or damaged by unwelcome visiters. The man who narrated the story mentioned that the houseowner Avas then quietly informed that in the event of need for accommodation for evacuees it might well happen that the whole house ami furniture would be impressed by the authorities.
