CROQUET
WHAKATANE VISITS TE PUKE
A team of eight players from the Whakatane Croquet Club visited Te Puke last week to play a series of friendly games with the local ladies. The bowling green was in special use for the occasion. After sixteen most enjoyable games had been played Te Puke were declared the winners by ten games to six. The visitors were hospitably entertained at morning and afternoon tea and lunch by the local 'club, a host of good tilings being spread out on the tables in the pavilion. At the conclusion of the afternoon Mrs Shaw, President of the Whakatane Club, expressed the thanks of the visitors for their good day's -outing and the hope that another visit would be arranged in the near future. Mrs A. Fox, president, replied on beljalf of the Te Puke ladies.
