OPOTIKI SHEEP FAIR

BETTER QUALITY OF STOCK

Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their annual sheep fair at Opotiki on Monday, February 9, when a large entry totalling 13,000 of all classes of sheep came forward. The quality and condition showed an improvement on past years. There was a large attendance ol' buyers representing Rotorua, Tc Puke, Tauranga and Wliakatanc districts. Wethers comprised some 4500 chiefly 4 and 6 tooth, for Avhich competition was keen at values in excess of vendors expectations. Ewes were yarded in average numbers and here again the quality showed improvement. Competition was keen throughout with values showing an Increase on our W hakatanc Sheep Fair rates. Lambs also sold under keen competition at slightly increas- i ed values. Practically a total clearance was effected under the hammer.
