His Mistake Lady (to new man on the milkrun): "How much is the milk hill?" New Man: "Excuse me, my name's Joe, not Bill.' Some Mathematician! Dad: "How are you getting on at arithmetic, Tommy?" | Tommy: "Not bad, Dad. I can add the noughts all right, but the other figures are a bit of a worry!" The Carrier Small Boy: "A cake of soap, please."' Grocer: "Do you want it scented?" Small Boy-: 'Oh, no thanks; I'll take it with me." Dirty Work Small Boy (tp shopkeeper): "I want a collar for dad's birthday present, please?" Shopkeeper: "One like mine?' Small Boy: "No, a clean one, please." Hardly Cus tome r: "I want a pound of cats' meat, please." Butcher: "Certainly, sir. Will you J take it with you?" Customer (sarcastically): "What do you want me to do—send the darn cats round for it?" I See! Tommy (Lo greengrocer): "Four pounds of potatoes with eyes in. please." Greengrocer; '"But Avhy with eyes in, sonny?" Tommy: "Because mother said they haye got to see us through the week." Fishing for Beef! The dear old soul watched the gaily clad cowboy dextcriously swing | ing the lasso in the grounds of the circus. "What a long rope!" she said at last. "What do you use it for?" "Well, lady," the cowboy replied; "when I'm out West on the ranch I use it for catching cows.' "Catching cows? How very interesting. Tell me, what bait do you use?"
