Borough l Finance At "Monday's meeting of the Borough Council the clerk reported that the General Account showed a credit , of £4499 9s Id and the Electricity Account a credit of £309 16s Id. Accounts totalling £3360 7s 2d were passed for payment. Improvements in Borough "Thanks to our excellent rate collection of 97 per cent," commented the Mayor when reporting that extra funds had been released for the construction of a concrete footpath in Stewart Street and for the tarsealing of Landing Road from King Street to Hawera Street. Petrol and Churches That the petrol restrictions were having a deterrent elfcct on church work was pointed out at this week's meeting of the Waikhto Presbytery. Ministers stated that residents at a distance were debarred from attending the services in the centres, and ministers' present allocations were not sufficient to permit of an increase in the number of services in country areas. Representations in favour of an increased ration for ministers in necessary cases are to be made to the authorities.
