NEED OF PATRIOTIC FUNDS

APPEAL TO ZONES

The secretary of Zone K Whakatane Borough and County I'nter-zone Patriotic Committee, Mr C. G. Lucas, has received the following letter from the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council:—

"In view of the Provincial Council's heavy financial commitments to tlie National Patriotic Fund Board, all Zones are earnestly requested to accelerate their collections on behalf of the 1912 All Purposes Appeal, so that the Council may be in a position to meet its obligations.

"Although the Rehabilitation Account is in a most healthy condition, the General Account of the Provincial Fund is in urgent need of replenishment, and Zone Executives will, therefore, appreciate the necessity of forwarding remittances as quickly as possible.

"The position to date is that with regard to the first quarter of the National Budget quota, Auckland still lias to find £30,000 and, as well, be in a position to meet three further quarterly instalments of £55,000. Your full co-operation in the direction indicated will be greatly appreciated."

Not Coming In

On receipt of this letter Mr Lucas despatched circular letters throughout the Zone and stated that the last Auckland Provincial statement revealed that of the £22,306 lis 5d collcctcd, Zone K had provided £285 13s 7d. He continued to show particulars of this Zone's allocation of the £500,000 appeal. The gross allocation for the area was. £10,481 but being oversubscribed in the previous effort was reduced to £9299 4s 9d.
