CARELESSNESS *AT TANEATUA
COUNCILLOR'S COMPLAINT
That people in Taneatua on Friday nights had no care for the appearance of the town and. left the Streets in a disgraceful condition with, a litter of paper and other refuse Avas stated by Cr H. C. McCready at last week's meeting of the County Council. He added that people did not endeavour to use the rubbish receptacles provided and caused the Council considerable expense as well as spoiling the appearance of the town. It was stated that Whakatane suffered from similar treatment by many x:>eople and that the Borough Council found the keeping clean of the town a difficult task. "It is the public's duty to keep their town clean," commented the chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, when expressing the hope that an improvement would result.
