It Avas generally considered that to properly grade and metal the road would cost too great a sum, but some repair and maintenance work Avould be undertaken as the works programme permitted. Stock Paddock

At last Aveek's meeting of the County Council a letter Avas received from A. L. Luke stating that he AA r as prepared to let the council the use of his paddock -between the road and the Rangitaiki RiA r er provided the Council fences the paddock, install a gate opposite the Avriter's present gate, and shared receipts on a 50/50 basis. It Avas decided that subject to. the following, Mr Luke's offer be accepted— Mr Luke or his agent to undertake gratis the duties of S'tock paddock keeper and also undertake to repair fences and gates—Mr Luke to pay half cost of erection of fence, materials to be provided at the cost of the council from the Waiohau stock paddock, it to be distinctly understood and agreed that no further fencing materials than those at present at the Waiohau stock paddock Avill be provided by the council. Mr Luke to give the council a ten years' lease of the area, such lease in addition to usual clauses and the Stipulations in this resolution to contain clauses Avhich Avould apply to a stock paddock. That 50 per. cent of receipts payable to Mr Luke be paid as ground rent.
