ROAD METALLING
WORK IN PROGRESS
COUNTY PROJECTS
A total of 400 yards of Matata gravel has been spread on the Thcwn-ton-Edgecumbe Main Highway completing the metalling on this road. The metalling of the Matata-Roto-ma Main Highway is in hand.
A summary of metalling carried out to date from Hona's pit at Te Teko is as follows; —
Powell's Road 264 cubic yards (completed). Grieve's Road 268 cubic yards (completed).
Hallett's Road 123 cubic yard? (completed). Military Road 51 cubic yards (completed). / Te Teko-Murupara Road'2ss yards (completed). ' Johnston's "Road 36 cubic yaroS(completed). . ' Onepu Springs Road 174 cubic yards (completed). Te Teko-Gal&tea Road 933 cubic yards (completed). Awakeri-Te Teko Road 447 cubic yards (completed). East Bank South Road Tin hand). The metalling of McCracken's and portion of Western £)rain Roads will complete the programme from this pit.
230 cubic yards of metal were spread by contract on Boynto-n's Road, and 231 cubic yards on Waimana Road. A. F. Rush's contract for metalting from Whakatane River pits commenced on Tuesday. Maintenance metal will first be spread on Station Road and then the Omataroa Roa'ds will be metalled. Stanley Road: It is recommended that a contract for a certain amount of metalling on Stanley Road be let to N. H. Semmens at Wainui Road contract rates. Telephone Poles, Taneatua-Rua-toki Road: Telephone poles on the above road which were reported as being dangerous to" traffic have been shifted back.—Acting county engineer's report at Tuesday's meeting.
