WAIPA HOLDING ON
The Waipa Placing Club lias decided to hold its winter meeting as usual on June- 20, the date listed at the beginning of the racing season. STRUCK WINNING FORM The Hamilton owned Stylishman. who has this season only registered place performances, struck winning form on the Taranaki tour, winning both at New Plymouth and Stratford. RE-COMMISSIONED At Putaruru Nan Vaals and Mihinui have just been put into work again by trainer Corco-ran. They may be all the better for their spell of a few weeks, and race prominently during the autumn.
THE TAKAPUNA CUP ] In view of the altered arrangements in connection with the Auckland Racing Club meeting to be. held on 31st inst, fresh nominations were called. Twenty-five entries have now been received for the Cup and the3 r include leading performers including Happy Ending, Gladynev, Cornish, Regal Fox, Beau Leon and Gay Rosette.
A MATAMATA WIN I Old Pal, the winner of the Fitzherbert Handicap at Trentham, is trained by J. W. Catliro, of Matamata. He is a three year old by Man's Pal from Warden's Queen, who is a half-sister to the well performed Queen of Song. The owner, Mr Ivan McGuire, of New Plj-mouth, secured the colt at the 1 National Sales at 55 guineas. The resultant dividend at Trentham was one of a third of a century, so* the coup was quite a payable one.
HOLDING RACING CONDITION Gay Rosette, winner of the Summer Cup at the Auckland Summer meeting, is holding her racing condition admirably, and galloping in fine style on the Te Rapa tracks. Her next appearance in public will be in the Takapuna Cup this week. THE PRINCIPAL EVENT Beau Leon failed to materialise in the Wellington Cup with 9.7, and over a shorter distance in the Takapuna Cup is top weight with 10.0. He will need to be better than ever to register a victory this week. Gladyncv follows Avith 9.12 and Happy Ending is now out of the 7.0 division with 9.3. Route March 8.5, Gay Rosette 8.4, Clinch 7.4 and Chain Acre 7.2 are all nicely treated.
AMENDED DATES On Friday the executive of the New Zealand Racing Conference met in "Wellington and agreed to a list of amended racing days for the bal- j a lice of the season. ANOTHER ONE DAY MEETING The Avondale Racing .Club will held a one day autumn meeting on April 11, but has applied for another meeting to be held later in the season. RUNNING OF CELEBRITY Paragraphs are at present going the rounds to the effect that in the running of the Wellington Telegraph Handicap if Celebrity's rider had kept her straight she would have gained the winning honours.
TE AROMA JOCKEY CLUB For its one day meeting on February 28 the Te A roll a Jockey Club has allotted £2235 in stakes. For the first time since its inception many years ago the stakes in the Herries Memorial Cup have .been reduced from £1000 to £550. UNFORTUNATE When racing at Trentham on the opening day Dr Blundell's Neenah, the half-brother to Suleiman, had an attack of bleeding and had to be cased up. The trouble is unfortunate both for the owner and trainer, J. W. Gathro. of Matamata. as Neenah was gifted Avith galloping ability. and was likely to register her share ol' sueee.* 5 .
