Value in Ferns Lycopodium powder obtained from a variety of fern which flourishes in North Auckland has been found by "the Plant Research Bureau to< be equal in value to lycopodium, the powder previously imported from Europe, Russia being the main source. The powder was used in place of French chalk, having a specially valuable oil necessary for vulcanising work. Flashlight powders are also made from it. Apart from these uses it has considerable medicinal value and Avas used for the coating of pills.
