DANGER OF FIRE
EXCEPTIONAL CARE NECESSARY
SEVERAL OUTBREAKS RECENTLY
Special care .should be exercised at present by residents of the town in the manner in which they 1 ilit rubbish fires or dispose of anything which might ignite. The dry spell experienced has caused grass to be highly inflammable and a careless act may easily entail serious consequences. During the past weeks numerous grass fires have occurred and, although in most cases the services of the Fire Brigade have not been necessary, these have threatened buildings and dwellings. Yesterday a grass fire broke out at the rear of Patterson's Home Furnishers and rapidly spread. It was thought to be under control but later spread again and encroached on the property bounding the Fire Station. Hoses were necessary to control the flames.
