With the object of overcoming the obstacles in the Avay of securing an interview Avith the Prime Minister of Great Britain, a man named P. Fagan, Avho Avas a member of the Campaigner Pensions League, Avhich is composed of ex-SerA'ice- men, posted himself to Mr Chamberlain (then in office) Avhen the latter visited Edinburgh recently. Fagan Avent to the G.P.0., Edinburgh, and paid the amount necessary for his delivery by special messenger, to the Palace of Holy rood House, where
Mr Chamberlain was quartered. But the device failed, as Mr Chamberlain Avas too busy to see him.
During the women's suffrage campaign in England 25 years ago, two suffragettes posted themselves to 10 Downing Street, London, the official home of the Prime Minister. Bui delivery of these "packages ' was not accepted at 10 Downing Street, and they were returned to the Post Of' fice.
The British Postal Guide states: "A person may be conducted to express messenger to an address or to places of interest in a town. The charge for conducting a person to an address" is. fid a mile, or part of a mile, plus'the person's fare or cost of conveyance."
