ELECTRIC FENCE NEARLY KILLED CHILD
Ferdinand Carlos de Paeztron, of Birmingham, ocverheard beys planning to steal his apples. So he put a wire fence round his garden and electrified it. Some time later the five year old boy of a neighbour climbed on an ash bin while playing. His mother called him and getting no answer, ran and found him lying face downwards, his right hand clutching the wire. When she picked him up, unconscious and with burns, a shock passed through her own body. 230 Volts A wire connecting the fence with The main switch carried 230 volts. Had the child held the wire for some time longer he might have been killed. Fining the man £10 at Birmingham for causing bodily harm to the child, the Stipendiary (Lord Ikeston) told him: "I am not at all sure that you realise even now what a terrible thing you have dene. You can't take these means to stop people going into your garden."
