Rural Mail —and then Some! Pity the poor rural mail carrier when the festive season comes round! (Loud "Hear hears" from Avell-and-favcurably-known drivers of H.M. rural mail vans in Whakatane district). Bulky parcels from distant relatives, last-minute letters and Christmas cards —all from the Post Office: and in addition a van full of bread, cakes and meat from Whakatane shops. Was the mailman tired o'' cramming legs of mutton and loaves of bread into roadside boxes? We''say he was. '
