I .<» : NEEDS OF THE SERVICES LINEN FROM AMERICA The Ministry of Supply is encouraging British farmers, by guarantee, to grow 50,000 acres of flax next spring with the object of meeting the increasing needs of the services, and also of providing linen for export to America. The Daily Telegraph says that 40,000 acres were grown last spring. In Northern Ireland the area was nearly 100,000 acres, five times that figure in peace-time.
