FIRST TWO MONTHS' KILLINGS

The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till November 29tli, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings total 383370 carcases, compared with 156,835 carcases for the first two months of the 1940/41 season. Wether mutton killings are 30,658 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 10,2)52 carcases, compared with 1050 and 3240 carcases respectively for the same period last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses arc as follows: — North Island Lamb 328,079 (156,810) Wether mutton 29,945 ( 1,046) Ehve mutton 10,438 ( 3,240) South Island Lamb 55,291 ( 25) Wether mutton 713 ( 4) EKve mutton 214 ( Nil) Frozen beef production is 9592qrs compared with 14,257qrs last season. Porker killings total 16,840 carcascs, an increase of 13,741, whilst baconcrs total 56,734 carcases, a decrease of 10,713.
