In this connection a remit forwarded by the Southland Farmers' Union to the Dominion Executive was as follows: ■'That the Director of the Dairying Division be asked to allow some relief from the rigid application of the dairying regulations covering the inspection of byres and plant." To this the Minister of Agriculture lias replied: "While it is recognised that avc cannot overlook defects which are definitely against quality in our dairy produce, the officers are endeavouring to take as sympathetic a view of the matter from the standpoint of the dairy farmer as is practicable under the circumstances." The Auckland Executive, after a discussion that included experience quoted by two farmers from Hunua, passed. the following resolution: "That no dairy should be condemned, or any farmers compelled to make expensive improvements to sheds, without previous consultation between the dairy inspector and the local Farmers' Union branch oxdairy company directors.
