CAR WRECKED
CRASH INTO BRIDGE
ACCIDENT ON FRUDAY NIGHT
The driver and a passenger in - aVB Ford car which crashed into j fences at the approaches to the » Whakatane River Bridge be- { 'tween 5 and 6 p.m. on Friday ? night were fortunate to escape uninjured although the vehicle
was extensively damaged.
The approach rails and six fence posts were torn from the ground! and smashed as the car made its way over the small bank to come to rest on its side. Strangely enough, although the vehicle was badly damaged no glass was broken.
The vehicle, which is owned by Mr Peter Baird was driven by Mr J. Hohopata with Mr Baird junior as a passenger.
