LABOUR'S POLICY

MRS M. M. DREAVER'S ADDRESS

HUMAN IT A RIAN LEG ISL ATI ON'

Mrs M. M. Dreaver, M.P. for Waitemata, addressed an audience of seventy in the King Street Hall last Friday afternoon. The majority of her hearers were women who accorded her an attentive hearing and displayed particular interest in her remarks relative to the social legislation which Labour had introduced. The Mayoress, Mrs B. S. Barry presided, and at the conclusion a vote of thanks and' confidence in the Labour Party was carried on the motion of Mesdames Maunder and Gray. Mrs Dreaver drew attention to the /humanitarian legislation whicli Lahad introduced and claimed that it would have been impossible for a Government representing the monied class to appreciate the need for laws, as such men bad never lived near the 'breatl line,' or experienced the pressure of financial need. It required a Government representing the people who carried industry on their backs to recognise the trials and difficulties of the average.
