FACILITY FOR SCHOOL
PUPILS FINE EFFORT
At present a campaign is in progress to raise funds for this object. lis a commencement an effort w r as made by the pupils themselves. Children were asked to bring waste material and each class was allowed one day on which it could sell .sweets, cakes and other foodstuffs.
Five pounds was expected from each of the six classes at the Main School and the result was an outstanding success. In every case this has been doubled, in some cases the stronger classes helping the weaker, nnd £60 has been banked in the Swimming Bath Fund.
This effort is now closed and any further amounts coming from this source will be used to help the School Fair to be held on Thursday 11th inst. The School Committee sent out over 300 circulars to parents asking for donations and some responded liberally The appeal is still open and any contributions will be welcomed as a considerable sum is still needed.
An opportunity to assist is afforded by the Fair as apart from a relatively small amount needed foi sports trophies and dux prizes the proceeds will go to the fund. All interested in the movement are asked to assist by donating things for sale and by attending themselves.
After the fine opening effort by the children it is hoped that the matter can be carried to finality and the work put in hand in time to enable the iJtith toi be used next February, otherwise a season will ho. wasted.
