Mrs C. W. Good returned during the week-end from an extended holiday in Master ton and Hawera . Mr R. Burstall, who has been in Rotorua has joined Mr Burstall at their new residence McCracken's Road. Information has been received that a brother of Mrs A. O. Stewart, of Whakatane, Lieut. Wattie Horton McKay, has died while a prisoner of war. Mr Osborne, M.P. for Otaliuhu, is in the Whakatane district acting in an organising capacity for Mir C. Mills, Labour Party candidate for the Bay of Plenty by-election. Notification has been received locally that Constable R. T. Thom, of Gisborne, will replace Constable G. Urquhart who has been transfererd from Whakatane to Tauranga. Before business commenced at Friday's meeting of the Whakatane T«terzone Patriotic meeting, the chairman. Mr J. L. Burnett, paid tribute to. the memory of the late Mr J. W. Sumner, who had been a valuable member.
